What is organic cosmetics?

He first thing we should say is that the terms Biological, Ecological and Organic cosmetics are the same, but depending on the geographical location, one or the other word will be used.
This type of products have active plant ingredients from organic farming where no pesticides or petrochemical fertilizers have been used. In addition, they are products without unnecessary synthesis additives such as colorants, preservatives, synthetic perfumes, silicones or animal substances; and their transformation process does not pollute the environment. They contain the best that nature has to offer: plant-based oils, extracts and aromas that produce real results.
Organic cosmetics must also comply with a series of standards, from the choice of ingredients to the processing methods used. The entire process, from raw materials to the final product put on sale, is approved by control mechanisms that certify the quality of the product by providing them with a distinctive or representative logo.

What is natural cosmetics?

As there is no regulated definition of the term "natural", it can have different interpretations. A natural skin care product could contain natural ingredients along with synthetic ingredients. The ingredients in your natural cosmetics may have such a provenance, but be processed to the point where they are no longer considered natural. The term "natural" might even refer to one or two natural ingredients in a product, while most of the ingredients are chemical.
Unfortunately, the label "natural" doesn't mean much. In an ideal world, natural products would only contain ingredients sourced from nature such as plants, flowers, nuts, seeds and herbs. While there are brands that produce real natural products, we suggest you be careful when reading natural claims on products from conventional brands. Here, it is most likely used as a marketing term. Checking the ingredient list will let you know if a product is truly natural or not, and if you need help let us know and we will try to help you.

Why shouldn't we talk about Cruelty Free?

Currently, it is forbidden to sell and manufacture cosmetic products on European soil that have been previously tested on laboratory animals. Therefore, positioning oneself as a "Cruelty Free" brand is nothing more than a marketing strategy, to do otherwise is currently illegal (see directive 2003/15/EC).

The regulation has been done in two phases: the first one took place between 2004 and March 2009, and banned animal testing of any cosmetic product or ingredient thereof within the European Union, as well as the sale on European soil of any cosmetic product containing ingredients tested on animals.

In a second phase, which came into force on March 11, 2013, this ban was extended to all those products and ingredients for which toxicity testing was mandatory, which had been exempted from the application of the first phase.

What about preservatives? How are Labeau Organic formulas preserved?

The preservatives are also Cosmos and approved by Biovidasana for the formulation of natural cosmetics, free of questionable substances and acting effectively to protect our formulations during the shelf life. We use synergistic mixtures of active ingredients to ensure the stability and preservation of the formulas. We always select the mildest and most suitable type of preservative depending on the type of formulation.

What does it mean that a product does not contain parabens?

First we must understand what Parabens are. In cosmetics, parabens are, to put it simply, a type of preservative, given their bactericidal and fungicidal activity. Many companies working with cosmetics and pharmaceuticals use parabens in their products due to their low cost. We can identify them on the label by their names: methylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben or benzylparaben.
The use of these products affects our skin. There are studies that show that in recent years there has been an increase in dermal allergies and rosacea. Our skin reacts to these products generating dermatitis, itching, redness, dryness, among other symptoms.

What are petrolatums?

Just read the list of ingredients (INCI) to see for yourself.

  • False sensation of hydration.
  • They block the elimination of toxins.

As an alternative to these products, there is a wide variety of natural oils and creams that are kind to our skin and whose oily base are vegetable oils.
These natural ingredients provide numerous essential fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants that provide softness, hydration and natural elasticity to the skin.

What are vegetable oils?

Vegetable oils are a totally natural product obtained from pressing methods of seeds, fruits or other parts of various plants resulting in a source of energy for our consumption, care and benefit.

  • Great moisturizing power, stabilizing skins suffering from excess dryness and flaky feeling.
  • They provide vitamins that help us to regenerate and tighten our skin.

What is the difference between organic and natural?

The main difference, and taking into account the certifications that exist today, Organic products must have a higher % of ingredients of vegetable origin than natural products. In addition to this % they must have another higher % of products that come from organic farming (they come from plants that are not genetically modified, grown in protected and sustainable environments, and no artificial pesticides or toxic substances are used during cultivation or harvesting).

What does plant-based product mean?

Assimilation is the ability of our skin to let an active ingredient penetrate and then extract all its benefits for use in whatever the need is at that moment.
A cosmetic of these characteristics seeks to be as similar as possible to the composition of our skin, so that compatibility at the biochemical level is practically assured, with all the advantages that this entails: they are not aggressive products, they strengthen and improve dermal functions, stimulate the skin's regenerative capacity and have no side effects.

What about salicylic acid?

Salicylic acid is a very common ingredient in cosmetics because of its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antibacterial properties.
However, it is not recommended during pregnancy in high concentrations. In low doses (less than 2% or less, such as the href="https://labeauorganic.com/collections/todos" Labeau products) it is considered safe.
