Foods that will boost your immune system
1. Yoghurt
Yoghurts or probiotics improve the balance of the intestinal microbiota, stimulate the immune response, reduce intestinal inflammation and strengthen the internal bacteria of the intestine to reinforce resistance to infections. They also provide protein, calcium and zinc. How can you introduce them into your diet? You can incorporate them into your breakfast and combine them with fruit or oatmeal. You can also add them as a dessert after a hearty meal.
2. Garlic
Thanks to its mycobacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties, it can lower blood pressure and help slow down hardening of the arteries. Like yoghurt, it can also prevent colds and fight fever thanks to its concentration of sulphides.
3. Blueberries
Thanks to the high levels of antioxidants and protectants contained in blueberries, people who eat them in large quantities are less likely to suffer from respiratory infections and colds. You can combine them with natural yoghurt, which will boost the immune system's defences, or make a tasty smoothie with them to drink throughout the day.
4. Broccoli
Although most of us don't feel like eating it at first sight, it is a food that stands out for its concentration of vitamins such as A, E and C, which contain antioxidants and are rich in fibre. We recommend not cooking it too much and accompanying it with other ingredients such as oily fish, rich in Omega-3, which can help prevent rheumatoid arthritis.
5. Almonds
These nuts contain much more fibre than other nuts. Almonds are rich in protein and vitamins B and E, healthy fats, iron, calcium and phosphorus. Vitamin E, in this case, is beneficial for the immune system as it helps the detoxification and growth of our body. In Labeau Organic we have some products made with this nut, such as the almond oil make-up remover that cleanses and reduces inflammation of the facial complexion.
6. Citrus fruits
Citrus fruits, such as lemons, oranges, grapefruit and tangerines, contain large amounts of vitamin C. They are essential for fighting infections and for the skin. They are essential for fighting infections and preventing colds. When to take them? For example, you can eat this type of fruit by making a good orange juice with lemon every morning to activate your defences and face the new day.
7. Ginger
This ingredient is very rich in vitamin C, which acts as an antioxidant also helping to protect the cells that make up our immune system; it is also rich in vitamin A which helps to protect the respiratory and gastrointestinal tract; and vitamin E.
